Art 211: deconstruction Video

For my project I decided to focus on the meaning of worth and worthlessness. Sometimes people give more credit to feeling worthless than feeling that they are worth it. To illustrate this concept, I made Worth as a girl trapped under a black and white environment in the wet and cold, and gave worthlessness a beautiful look. I made worthlessness wear a dress of red to symbolize demons. When people continuously say they are worthless, they are giving worthlessness a spotlight, and leaving their worth in the dark. For the effects of the video, I did a lot of reverse, speeding up, color change, tv simulator effects, and black and white effects. I used final cut pro and a T3i rebel camera. It was a lot of fun filming it in the water, but it was a mess as well. Originally I was supposed to film outside, but I decided that if I film the two elements where it looks like they are trapped, it would be better. I want people to realize how much they are worth. I decided to do this concept...

Art 211: Performance art

Jen was my partner! When we were thinking of my piece, I looked at things I usually enjoy. I enjoyed watching people recording and doing weird stuff in stores and always wondered if I could ever do that. Since I have an overwhelming sense of social anxiety, I try not to draw attention to myself, yet wish that I could do the things youtubers do best. My piece is based on just contently being yourself. I want to illustrate that you can be weird and do what you please in public, no matter what the public eye says. I see performance art as an interesting concept. from flash mobs to protest, performance art can really have an everlasting memory for those who see it. Some performance arts can be seen as extreme, and can be essentially violent to oneself, bodily harm to make a statement can be seen as too intense for public eyes, but it does make a statement. whether it reaches the peoples minds can be a challenge. When the performance is recorded I think a lot more people can see it...

Art 211: Five Genres/Artist

For techno, I think the band Darude should go into this category. They came out with the popular techno song Sandstorm. Which is very techno, and similar to the techno world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6120QOlsfU  For Goth, I would like to put Dot Dot Curve in the list. Dot Dot Curve is very pop-goth cultured. They have an emo attraction to them as well as a metal. I could also put this group in punk, but it seems more on the emo side. Their songs are catchy, and have many instrumentals in them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeSzEmoCwlg  For dubstep, I'd like to choose a DJ that creates songs through collaboration with other artist. He goes by Marshmellow, and likes to hide who he is, giving off a mysterious vibe. He hides his face through a Marshellow mask. His beats rang from dubstep to hip hop to EDM, which initially is a form of dubstep. https://youtu.be/oRArmtMA9AI For the virtual I had to do a bit of research. Virtual singers like Hatsune Miku ...
