Art211 Electronics

Taylor Guyton Art 211 Blanka Roundtree 28 February 2018 Electronics             Art and technology has come a long way. One technical object that has come a long way is the drawing tablet. Drawing tablets are used by artist all around the world. It helps artist draw digitally on the computer which is entirely different from drawing on paper. Digital arts have prospered throughout the years as they continuously make more tablets more accessible and easier to use. Most of the artist who do use the tablets are illustrators and digital animators. For a long time, animation was hand drawn. Then Wacom decided to come out with the Wacom bamboo tablet, however, before there was Wacom, there was apple. In 1979, apple created a tablet for graphics (Smith).   Apple actual did not create the tablet itself, they worked with someone who did make it. The company was called Summagraphics (Smith). Apparently, it was not well designed so it did not sell right.   In 1984 Wacom re

Art 211 Favorite Broadways

The Color Purple, staring Cynthia Erivo and Jennifer Hudson was one of the most soulful, inspiring, and beautiful broadways I've ever seen. Originally there based on Jennifer Hudson's appearance, I was quickly drawn in to the beautiful voices of everyone else. It was no longer about who famous was playing the roles, it was about who was playing the roles, and they were playing it well. Cynthia Erivo's performance was phenomenal. Her voice carried out her soul, and mine as well. I saw the play January of Senior year of high school for a theatre trip to New York. This Broadway is something I would recommend to anybody. It tells the hardships of family and love, hurt and regret. It highlights the ideals and expectations of society, to the strength of feminism and desire. Growing up, everyone in my family knew of The Color Purple. I was excited to see that it has become a play, and the play did not let me down. Not one bit. It was the type of play you would laugh, cry and sympa

Art 211 Madama Butterfly Response

The animation is a spectacle to look at. It changes the scenery in artful movements, almost as if the originally set, which takes place on a grassy hill, is just a dream. Madama Butterfly is well constructed, built out of clay and mechanics. Her stringy hair movement adorably sways in the imaginary wind, and her clothes, which are made out of rags. There must be a reason why the animator wanted her to look like this, versus, the opera where she is an actual geisha in a kimono, whereas, the military man is just a ken doll. I believe he wanted to symbolize a curious innocence within Madama Butterfly. He partakes this story in a very interesting way. He starts it off with the two meeting and all of a sudden connecting without any thought. In the original Madama Butterfly, he originally wanted to take a Japanese wife, he ends up taking Cho-Cho san as his wife, who is, in a sense, Madama butterfly. In the animation, he mates with her and then leaves, as if he was either to never come back

Art 211 Combination project: Smoothie Phone

Image
My project is a combination of lunch and conversation. The avocado represents the dial, the sandwich, the base of the phone, the elbow noodles, the cord, and the apple, banana, and orange is made up of the phone. My reasoning for creating such a mass of food is simply because of the idea of healthiness vs unhealthiness. We are told that being on our electronics causes loss of brain cells and inability to learn in a specific way. People of the younger generation tend to not care and hold on to electronics almost as an obsession, but what if electronics were healthy food? If we treated our body how we treat our electronics, perhaps we would have a better perspective on healthiness. My idea came to me from looking at my own life. my inspirations actually came from my dinner. While I was prodding around, seeing what I should eat, I found myself dragging my phone along with me, as if it was another part of my arm. Noticing this caused me to create such a piece. Other inspirations came
